I am not attending Prom this year, I attended almost 2 years ago now, but I am helping my little sister in law get ready for her Prom.
Step 1.
Get A Dress
It does not matter the price, or the "trends", get a dress that you feel beautiful in. I had imagined myself in a glamorous sparkling dress, but I ended up with a simple long dress with lace detailing and a sweetheart neckline. I hadn't expected to get this dress.
You should not spend crazy amounts on your dress, you will only wear it once, and it's not your wedding dress. You can get a dress equally as beautiful for half the price.
My dress is on the left, it cost my over $300, the dress on the right is the dress we ordered for my sister, and it was $90 from Lulus.com
Step 2.
Make your appointments, you will need appointments for hair, nails, and makeup. You can make this appointment without knowing exactly what you want. If you know someone who can do your hair, makeup or nails, ask them to do it, because it will save you a lot of cash.

Step 3.
Find your inspiration. I like to look on Pinterest for ideas. When finding ideas for your hair make sure to keep in mind your dress neckline. My dress was strapless, so the best hair style is to keep your hair down, and my sisters dress was a tank top, low cut, so the best hair for that neckline is half up half down.
Step 4.
Get your accessories. This includes, shoes, jewelry, clutch. It is very important to get your shoes early on, as you need your shoes when getting your dress hemmed to your length.
The week of prom.

What to bring to prom.

Just remember that it is just prom, and all that matters is that you are having fun!
